Playing Catch Up

Wow. I can't believe I haven't posted since April. Just a little run-down of what has been going on...

Work. I've been kept busy working and adjusting to a full-time job. It's been a challenge waking up early every day and dealing with some hectic deadlines but I think I'm getting the hang of it! ;)

Weddings. David and I have gone to four weddings so far this year.. and two more are coming up soon! It has been a blast seeing our friends get hitched.

Health and Fitness. I have been attempting to get back on the workout wagon and eat healthier. I've been following the lovely Brianna Sky blog  at www.shineorset.com and been cooking out of her "Eatin' Clean, Livin' Lean" e-book. Some of my favorite recipes include the Turkey Sausage & Zucchini Pizza Boats and the Spinach & Turkey Bacon Mac and Cheese!

I'm going to try to start using this blog as a way to keep me accountable with my fitness journey. It will be a challenge for the next few months with a big Aggie Football season coming up full of tailgates, parties, and more weddings! :)

Playing a little catch up...

I have been way behind in posting on here...Sorry!

I have an excuse though: I am officially employed! It was so sudden and I wasn't expecting to find a job for another two months (until after graduation), but the stars aligned and God made it work perfectly. It's pretty crazy. I am currently training to become a commercial real estate appraiser and so far it's been a pretty cool experience. The hardest part is getting into a new routine and waking up early. The next few months might be a little quiet from me due to the fact that I will be working almost full time, finishing up my last class AND starting my online training for appraisers.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend with our families and I just loved the time I got to spend laughing and catching up with so many sweet people in our lives!

(Thanks Ri and Mom for letting me steal these pics ;) )

This morning David and I went to the gym at 5:30AM--yes you read that right--and we played racquetball! It was fun and a great way to start my day (and wake me up) and it really helped that I had a buddy nudging me to get out of bed haha :) We are going to try to get into the habit of going early in the mornings while the gym is completely deserted and we can get some exercise in before we head to work.

I did want to give a few recommendations for things I've seen/used the past few weeks.

First, its the Cuisinart Griddler Gourmet.

I got this for a wedding gift and I have finally pulled it out and tried it. Not only can you cook pancakes on it, you can grill sandwiches and hamburgers too. The plates are removable and dishwasher safe which pretty much sold it for me. I HATE hand washing things like that. The only thing that could improve it would be to have it at a slant so grease could drain better. Other than that, its pretty awesome!

Next, I have been OBSESSED with this girl's makeup tutorials on YouTube. I wasn't a big YouTube watcher/subscriber until I watched her videos and now I can't wait until she posts a new one. Her name is Jaclyn Hill and she's a MAC makeup artist. Her makeup tutorials can be a little more dramatic than your everyday makeup look, but she's so fun to watch and she really does give great tips for even basic stuff like flawless foundation application. Check her out!

Have a great rest of the week! (Only three more days until the WEEKEND!)

Throwback Thursday!

A lot of people have been posting old pictures for "Throwback Thursday" and I thought I would join in on the fun!

Rockin' the animal print since I was 3!

We're princesses, duh.

Scarlett O'Hara was the bomb. I still want a plantation...

A whole bunch of things rolled into one post. Deal with it.

This post is going to be random. Beware.

Last week, my mom and grandma came down to visit and help with my *STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION* living room. I swear, they were such a HUGE help, and I don't think I could have done it without them! I'm not going to go into any details now, but I might write a post about it once I'm finally done.

Such troopers!
Yes, those are MAROON doors. Yikes, is right.

My Wedding Flowers

So here's another wedding post for this GORGEOUS Sunday: Flowers!

We were highly recommended to visit with Darla Denton at Devin Designs Flowers in Grapevine, TX.  From the instant we met her, my mom and I knew we wanted her to do our flowers! Darla was so sweet and welcoming, and knew my groom from when he was younger and she just gushed about what a cutie he was... :)

I have to be honest, I was pretty much dreading the whole flower thing. I wanted it to stay simple and classic, but as we looked at picture after picture of beautiful wedding displays, I was swiftly becoming more excited about this aspect of planning!

My bouquet was all white with roses, peonies, hydrangeas, and freesia. My bridesmaid's bouquets were just a miniature version of the bridal bouquet.

Alter flowers in the sanctuary

The sanctuary was decorated for Christmas and we used the white and red poinsettias in our church decorations.

As for the reception decor, we alternated using tall floral centerpieces, short floral centerpieces, and silver candelabras that the Speedway Club had for us to use!

There you have it.  Have a wonderful week!

If I won the lottery today...

I would go on a shopping spree.
After taxes, donations to charities, putting MOST in savings, paying off debts, etc...
I wouldn't say that I am THAT stylish or have an incredible knowledge of fashion, but I do wear what I like! I have had my eye on a few pieces that I wish I could afford...so if anyone wants to donate to the Jordan's Closet Fund, please contact me below ;)

First, I have been searching for this designer ever since I saw this being worn on Gossip Girl. I had almost given up hope of finding it until I saw Emma Ryland from Dallas wearing one a few episodes back! Its from Van Cleef & Arpels, and I have never even heard of them until now!

Next, I just got an email from my dear friend Kate Spade announcing a new bag. Of course I am instantly in love. It also helps that its name is Catherine Street Pippa. Now, I don't think it is a coincidence that it is named after the two most elegant and classy British Royal and close-enough royal, do you??

Something that is MUCH more affordable and I might convince my better half to buy for my birthday (in July...SO far away!), are these Tory Burch Studs.

That's all for now! Enjoy the rest of your week!

"Let Them Eat Cake"

In the upcoming weeks, I wanted to share some details about our wedding! I know there are many ladies that are either planning their weddings or planning their "Pinterest Weddings" so these will be the posts for you!

Today I wanted to discuss one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process, CAKE. I am obsessed with cakes, watched all the cake-making/decorating shows on TLC or whatever the channel, wish I could be one of those talented bakers, etc. So, needless to say, my wedding cake was very important to me. The bakery we chose was called Delicious Cakes in Southlake. We went to a tasting and I was SOLD when they offered Red Velvet cake. Seriously. Obsessed, I tell ya.

For my cake, I wanted total elegance and sparkle and that's exactly what we got! 6 tiers, alternating between Princess (yellow cake) and Red Velvet with a cream cheese butter cream frosting. Incredible. I had a quilted pattern with gemstones, fondant bows with brooches, and a monogram "M" cake topper. I love my sparkle, what can I say! and as Tierra from The Bachelor would say "Don't let anyone take your sparkle away!"

David "chose" an incredible Kahlua Mocha cake topped with fudge icing with the Texas A&M seal on top. We couldn't have a wedding without throwing in some classy Aggie touches!

We had separate tables for the Bride and Grooms cake and for decorations, each table had a picture of the parents at their wedding cutting the cake. I had seen it at a wedding earlier in the year and LOVED that idea.

My Valentine ♥

It was six years ago today that a sweet boy put a teddy bear and box of chocolates in the front seat of my Jeep Wrangler parked at Carroll Senior High School, WITHOUT a note! Thanks to my best friend's hints, (more like verifying my hopes), I called this sweet boy to say thank you and hung up with a date for the next Friday night.

Who knew that I would be married to this boy six years later? The Lord did, and I am so thankful for that!

As for our Valentine's Day plans, we just finished a romantic lunch of Chick-fil-a, and tonight will consist of us going to Home Depot for supplies to finish the overhaul of our living room. We go all out, obviously. :) Our real Valentine's celebration will be later on in the week, after we complete "renovations"!

I know y'all have been waiting patiently to see wedding pics and I figured this dreary Monday would be the perfect mood lifter! (at least it is for me!) This is just a preview of some of my favorite pictures from our big day! All of the following photos are taken by the wonderful Kris Ellen Smith. I would highly recommend her to anyone planning their wedding right now--or in the future! Enjoy!

Rehearsal Day!

Thanks to my incredible mother-in-law, I have wonderful pictures documenting two of the biggest days of the year!

Lunch at Brio Tuscan Grille with my bridesmaids and mother(s) was wonderful. I love my ladies!

After lunch, we took a lot of the reception supplies to the Speedway Club. Dad and I were able to practice our father/daughter dance and goof around a bit!
Finally, its rehearsal time!

Our wonderful wedding party!
