My Wedding Flowers

So here's another wedding post for this GORGEOUS Sunday: Flowers!

We were highly recommended to visit with Darla Denton at Devin Designs Flowers in Grapevine, TX.  From the instant we met her, my mom and I knew we wanted her to do our flowers! Darla was so sweet and welcoming, and knew my groom from when he was younger and she just gushed about what a cutie he was... :)

I have to be honest, I was pretty much dreading the whole flower thing. I wanted it to stay simple and classic, but as we looked at picture after picture of beautiful wedding displays, I was swiftly becoming more excited about this aspect of planning!

My bouquet was all white with roses, peonies, hydrangeas, and freesia. My bridesmaid's bouquets were just a miniature version of the bridal bouquet.

Alter flowers in the sanctuary

The sanctuary was decorated for Christmas and we used the white and red poinsettias in our church decorations.

As for the reception decor, we alternated using tall floral centerpieces, short floral centerpieces, and silver candelabras that the Speedway Club had for us to use!

There you have it.  Have a wonderful week!

"Let Them Eat Cake"

In the upcoming weeks, I wanted to share some details about our wedding! I know there are many ladies that are either planning their weddings or planning their "Pinterest Weddings" so these will be the posts for you!

Today I wanted to discuss one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process, CAKE. I am obsessed with cakes, watched all the cake-making/decorating shows on TLC or whatever the channel, wish I could be one of those talented bakers, etc. So, needless to say, my wedding cake was very important to me. The bakery we chose was called Delicious Cakes in Southlake. We went to a tasting and I was SOLD when they offered Red Velvet cake. Seriously. Obsessed, I tell ya.

For my cake, I wanted total elegance and sparkle and that's exactly what we got! 6 tiers, alternating between Princess (yellow cake) and Red Velvet with a cream cheese butter cream frosting. Incredible. I had a quilted pattern with gemstones, fondant bows with brooches, and a monogram "M" cake topper. I love my sparkle, what can I say! and as Tierra from The Bachelor would say "Don't let anyone take your sparkle away!"

David "chose" an incredible Kahlua Mocha cake topped with fudge icing with the Texas A&M seal on top. We couldn't have a wedding without throwing in some classy Aggie touches!

We had separate tables for the Bride and Grooms cake and for decorations, each table had a picture of the parents at their wedding cutting the cake. I had seen it at a wedding earlier in the year and LOVED that idea.

What does your ideal wedding cake look like?

Wedding Picture Preview!

I know y'all have been waiting patiently to see wedding pics and I figured this dreary Monday would be the perfect mood lifter! (at least it is for me!) This is just a preview of some of my favorite pictures from our big day! All of the following photos are taken by the wonderful Kris Ellen Smith. I would highly recommend her to anyone planning their wedding right now--or in the future! Enjoy!

Rehearsal Day!

Thanks to my incredible mother-in-law, I have wonderful pictures documenting two of the biggest days of the year!

Lunch at Brio Tuscan Grille with my bridesmaids and mother(s) was wonderful. I love my ladies!

After lunch, we took a lot of the reception supplies to the Speedway Club. Dad and I were able to practice our father/daughter dance and goof around a bit!
Finally, its rehearsal time!

Our wonderful wedding party!

Rehearsal Dinner Time!

I'm now a Mrs!

Kris Boevers Photography

Whew! This past month has been a whirlwind. Christmas, WEDDING, Honeymoon, and moving into my new (to me) home! I promise I will do my best to cover all of the fun events in time... Putting them all in one post would just spoil all the fun of reliving it all!

It is still just sinking in that I am finally married! I still blush when people use my new last name, and sometimes forget that that's me!

Today is the first day of school for the spring semester... I'm almost DONE with school forever! Of course, I thought this day would be two years ago for undergrad, but now that it's here, it is even sweeter.

Weddin' Update

Yep, you read that correctly. 47 days... and only 30 more days left of school (Thank goodness)!!
There are so many things that I have to get done between now and then; it is just so overwhelming. I continue relying on little lists written on sticky notes and Notes on my iPhone to help me keep things organized.

Well time to get back to homework before I have to work on wedding stuff... lovely evening ahead for me!

Have a great week, y'all! It's FINALLY feeling like fall! :)

Fabulous Friday!

It's finally Friday, and somehow I survived another week of school and work! I've been MIA for a while so I figured I would throw a bunch of things into one post.

1. David and I are officially homeowners! We signed the papers on Monday but we're not getting the keys until the end of the month... I promise I will make a huge post about the house and all its details as soon as I can get in there! Patience is not a strong point for me so this is going to be a long next week!

2. How is it already September 21st? I swear it was just Labor Day. Dang. On that note, 99 days until the wedding. 99 days of using the word "fiance" as many times as I can (I'm still not used to saying it!).

3. Tomorrow is game day in College Station, but it starts off with me running in my first 5k! I'm pretty excited about it! :)

4. *BRAG TIME* I completely dominated in Fantasy Football this week and ended up ranked first in the league (of all guys) might I add! This has never happened to me, and I doubt it ever will again, so I just had to slip this in here as documentation that my somewhat flawed way of choosing players because they're cute or have a cool last name worked for me this week!

There you have it. Thanks and Gig 'Em!

[Insert Cutesy Title Here]

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to spend a few hours with my dearest friend of TEN years now.... The goofy girl I met in seventh grade Spanish is now going to be a bridesmaid in my wedding!

We went to try on her bridesmaid's dress, and she looks GORGEOUS in it!

My mom and I also were able to pick up THE DRESS this morning!! I am so blessed that the dress has just been a dream to deal with... it was delivered early (it was supposed to be in around October), and alterations have been a breeze (I'm a shorty and didn't have to alter the length at all- I was SHOCKED!!)

Tomorrow I head back to College Station to face the hectic rush of the start of the fall semester, and Sunday is dedicated to moving yet another sister into the dorms. I am so looking forward to this semester full of tailgating with family and friends, our first football season in the SEC, and planning for exciting things in our future!

Holy Wedding Bells

So there are officially 156 days left until the biggest spectacle of my life: my wedding. Please bear with me while I freak the veil out.

According to TheKnot.com, I have 129 tasks on my to-do list. Some of the extremely blaring tasks I have yet to do (that is suggested for 4-5 months out):
-Plan out ceremony
-Finalize menu
-Decide on formal wear for the guys (try convincing your fiance to do this one.. ha!)

Planning out the ceremony is a huge deal! I feel like I haven't been to enough weddings to get a feel of what I want, just what I don't want... I'm not really feeling a unity candle or the unity sand thing, whatever the heck that is. Truthfully, the only thing that I have on my mind about the ceremony is having to stand in heels for as little time as possible. As long as we say our vows and we exchange rings, I'm blissfully content!

Of course, we will most likely want to spend a little more time at the ceremony to get our money's worth, so does anyone have any creative suggestions as to what I could do to fill more ceremony time?

Now, I have to admit, besides finding THE dress and going cake tasting, finalizing the menu has me PUMPED. Who wouldn't be? You get to taste pretty much the whole menu before you have to decide. So much for keeping to my bridal diet plan... As excited I will be to spill the beans (ha! get it? BEANS!) about what we decide, I'm gonna have to keep the food choices a secret for my guests!

Planning a wedding is stressful, and I have no idea what I would do without my momma because she has been a HUGE help. I'm thinking we should start a wedding planning company after all the research we've done! I've also been living on Pinterest since before I've gotten engaged, just getting all kinds of ideas for weddings, parties, future homes, etc. Most of these ideas are so totally unrealistic and I really feel sorry for David because he is going to have to keep bringing me down to earth and dealing with the aftermath of Jordan's Crushed Pinteresty Dreams... this is not going to be pretty!
