Luke's 10 Month Update

How is this boy already 10 months old?! I can't believe how fast time is going!
Oh how this little guy has my heart!
Weight: 22ish lbs

Length: 28 inches?

Diaper Size: Size 4

Clothing Size: 9 - 12 month clothes

Nicknames: Booger Boo, Lukey Pookey

Health: We have been fortunate to have a month of a(mostly) healthy baby with TWO teeth! The second tooth just popped through one day and it didn't seem to phase him one bit!

Sleep: All in all, Luke is just a great sleeper. He usually takes a mid-morning nap and a mid afternoon/evening nap, and then goes to sleep around 8:30/9:00 and then wakes up around 7:30/8:00 AM.

Diet: We are still trying new baby foods and he loves pretty much everything he's tried. Butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and bananas seem to be his favorites. Luke enjoys the Gerber Puffs and Melts as well and has learned how to feed himself (Thank Goodness!).

Loves: Luke still loves crawling, but the creeping around on furniture is more his style these days. He heads straight to the back door to look outside. He has also taken his first steps!! EEEK Momma is so not ready for this...especially since I am getting bigger with baby #2 every day! Luke loves being outside, his Baby Einstein videos, the Aggie War Hymn (WHOOP), his grandparents, mommy blowing her nose, snuggling face first into big foax fur blankets, and getting into things he's not supposed to be getting into! haha

Playing with Daddy
Dislikes: When you walk out of the room, LOUD voices and laughs (it scares him, poor guy).

Other Random Things:
Luke likes to imitate people, especially when we "squeal". He will "squeal" with his eyes closed.. so funny!
He says "bah bah bah" and loves to make noises like a motor boat while he is cruising around the room.

Cousin Madelyn, BeBe and Luke
We had a play date with Cousins Rachel and Madelyn one afternoon... Madelyn loves Luke, but little guy couldn't crawl away fast enough! It won't be long before they are the best of buds -  they have no choice :)

We had to say "see you later" to Luke's newest best bud, his Aunt Mariah as she headed back to Zambia. It was such a wonderful time and every time Mariah came into the room, Luke just lit up! They have a precious bond and it makes my heart full! Can't wait for you to come home again, Ri!

We also celebrated Luke's first Easter! The Easter Bunny left him some yummy puffs, a new Hot Wheels car, and a toy grill. We went to Easter Service at church then headed to Waco for a family celebration.

Me and my boy(s)! 10 months and 25 weeks along!

Love you, sweet angel!

Luke's 9 Month Update

Ok, so I feel like a big slacker and a terrible Mommy! I'm sorry Luke, I haven't written an update on you in FOUR months. You turned 9 months today and I figured I better get an update written before you turn a year old! (Annnd now two weeks later I am finally getting around to post this...)

In my defense, our family has had a few changes since I last posted. We are expecting Baby #2 in July! This comes as quite a shock (and is still sinking in even though we are over halfway there now)! Luke and Baby #2 will be almost exactly 13 months apart... and before y'all start asking: Yes, we know how babies are made and No, we were not trying/planning. God has blessed us with being fertile--there's no arguing there!

Because of Baby #2 on the way, David and I made the decision to stay at home full time with Luke. I really wanted to soak up this time with my baby before the next one comes, and I knew I wasn't going to work at all once we had two children. It has been an adjustment spending all day with a little one but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Weight: 19.3 lbs

Length: 28 inches

Diaper Size: Size 3, just about to graduate into size 4

Clothing Size: 9 - 12 month clothes

Nicknames: Booger Boo, Lukey Pookey

Health: He is currently happy and healthy! We had a few weeks of yucky congestion, ear infection, and teething all at the same time, which makes for a miserable baby and mommy.

Sleep: We were doing SO well for so long...then Luke decided he wanted to wake up three times a night again. I think we are getting back to that good sleeping from 8:00/9:00 PM to 6:30/7:00 AM. **Fingers Crossed**

Diet: Luke is a master at eating baby food now, and we try to feed him one or two meals a day. He has discovered the Gerber Puffs and Fruit Melts and loves them! We are still having about 3 or 4 bottles a day as well.

Loves: Luke loves CRAWLING (peg leg style) and pulling up and creeping around on ANYTHING in sight. Gone are the days of Mommy relaxing on the couch while he plays on the floor! Luke also loves food, any music, Baby Einstein videos, going on walks (heck, anything outside), watching the ceiling fan, singing.

Dislikes: Being sleepy, being held "like a baby", being put down for naps

Other Random Things:
Luke has learned how to clap when we say "YAY!". I'm a little biased but it's pretty darn cute.
He likes to jabber at you -- when he is upset, the jabbering gets pretty intense and its hard not to laugh at him!
Luke only has one tooth so far...just waiting for the second one on bottom to come through..
We have been swapping Luke's (and Baby #2's) nursery with my former office... lots of shuffling around, painting (again!)  and ordering another crib. So surreal still!

This boy has my heart!!

Five Month Update

Where did this month go? Sweet Luke, I am so glad you are mine. You bring such joy to so many people and you have the best little personality!

Luke at 5 Months

Weight: 17.1 lbs!

Length: estimating 25 inches

Diaper Size: We are still squeezing into size 2 diapers, but not for much longer. Just trying to finish up these last few open packages.

Clothing Size: 6 and 9 month clothes!

He was not a happy camper..
Nicknames: Big Guy, Lukey Pookey, Sunshine, Booger, Boo

Health: We have had a few stuffy/runny nose incidents lately... boo

Sleep: Well, we have moved Luke into his nursery and has been pretty decent sleeping. We have had our nights, don't get me wrong, but for the most part, he has been sleeping through the night in the crib or rocker (when he is feeling crummy).

Diet: Formula with an occasional bottle of breastmilk that had been stored in the freezer. He has also had a few tries at the whole rice cereal thing, and we are still practicing eating from a spoon!

Loves: Luke loves eating, playing on his activity mat, his hands, "talking", being tickled, "jumping" when someone is holding him, and walking around. He has also been eyeing those cell phones a lot...

Dislikes: Being sleepy, being held "like a baby"

Other Random Things:   Luke is doing better sitting up on his own, but still hasn't conquered that whole gravity thing yet.

Luke is finally big enough to lay in his baby tub without the little sling to hold him and he absolutely loves kicking and splashing while taking a bath.

He has also attended more Aggie and Dragon football games and is considered our "good luck charm" when he is in Kyle Field because we have yet to lose a game while Luke is in attendance. (He stayed with Gigi and G Daddy during the whole Alabama debacle).

This past weekend we celebrated Luke's first Halloween with his bestie/cousin Madelyn in College Station. We did a little dress up earlier in the week since we were going to be tailgating all day Halloween.

Our little Dragon!

Madelyn and Luke in their Halloween clothes...This was not planned, BTW!

Love you Baby Boy!!

My Fall Favorites

Fall Favorites 2015

First off, fall is my favorite season. I love that the weather is finally getting cooler and this is the season of football, family, and fun! I have made a list of a few of my fall favorites inspired by my favorite YouTuber, Jaclyn Hill!

Favorite Candle
I am so in love with Marshmallow Fireside from Bath and Body Works! It is such a warm scent and the description is spot on: "Gather 'round the bonfire with toasted marshmallows, smoky woods and sweet vanilla". MMM So yummy. Every time I burn it, I just want to go camping and make smores.

I have a very close second favorite candle that I randomly found sitting on a Halloween Decor aisle in Target. I can't seem to find it anywhere online either, which makes me almost think that God put this candle there just for me to find. It is truly a little piece of heaven. It is the Nature's Wick three scented candle with Pumpkin Nutmeg, Bonfire Nights, and Vanilla Dolce. I'm going to be real honest when I say I am not a huge fan of Pumpkin scented things, but this candle has the perfect hint of pumpkin that isn't overwhelming. I am also kind of obsessed with the wood burning wicks that makes the crackling noise. If the Nature's Wick and Marshmallow Fireside scent had a collaboration, I would be burning through candles so fast, they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough.

Favorite Drink

Duh, of course it's Starbucks. While I know every Basic Girl is obsessed with the Pumpkin Spice Lattes or PSL in girl world, it just doesn't do anything for me. The first time I tasted the Toasted Graham Latte however, I could have sworn I heard an angel choir singing "Hallelujah" in the back seat...or maybe it was just Luke crying mad that the car had stopped going through the drive thru. Either way, it is just that drink that makes you feel all warm inside and makes your day better! It is a struggle living less than a mile from a DRIVE THRU Starbucks (best invention ever) to go in moderation and I try to treat myself every once in a while. Some of my reasons for "treating myself": Mondays, Inspection Days, Days I drop Luke off at Grandma's house, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays.

I really need to get a rewards card there...

Favorite Clothing Item

My boots! Cowboy Boots, Riding Boots, Black High Heel Boots... I pair them with dresses, leggings, jeggings or jeans. I am also guilty of wearing them with yoga pants and a long top so you can't tell that they are actually yoga pants. (I was pregnant at the time--I consider that a legit excuse!)
I bought these boots in black last year before going to Vegas and now they are even cheaper and in brown too. I think I might be making an online order soon...(plus I have a $10 off coupon), Thanks DSW!

Favorite Halloween Costume

I've had some pretty great costumes throughout the years, but these are some of my favorites. Give little Jordan a tutu or a tiara and some sequins and I'm a happy girl. Ok, that pretty much applies today as well!

Favorite Thanksgiving Food

My grandma's stuffing is probably the best thing ever. I can't eat enough of that stuff (pun intended). I also love sweet potatoes with the marshmallows, pecans and brown sugar baked on top. Can't wait for Thanksgiving!!

Favorite Fall Activity

Fall means football! I love tailgating and going to the Aggie football games... Tons of great food, good friends and family. We bleed Maroon!

What are some of your fall favorites?!

4 Month Update

Goodness we have the sweetest child. I can't believe he is 4 months, but at the same time, it seems like we've had him forever!

Luke at 4 months
Weight: 16 lbs 3 oz

Length: 24 inches

Diaper Size: We are in size 2 diapers!

Clothing Size: Mostly 3-6 month clothes and larger...He is also wearing 9 month sleepers!

Sometimes he doesn't wear anything...just Mommy's kisses!
Nicknames: Big Guy, Lukey Pookey, Sunshine, Poop Monster

Health: Next Dr's appt is on Monday!

Sleep: This child is consistently sleeping through the night!!! The Lord has blessed us with such a wonderful sleeper! He is still sleeping in our room with us, mostly because Mommy is not ready to let him sleep ALL THE WAY across the house!

Diet: We have slowly introduced a little bit of formula into his diet and he has accepted it without any issues. He also has had a few tastes of BLUE BELL ice cream! Only the best for my baby! haha

Loves: Luke loves to "jump" up and down when you are sitting and holding him. He likes to grab things and is GREAT at grabbing hair, his pacifier and slowly learning to help hold his bottle. Still loves his activity mat and we pulled out the exer saucer and has loved playing with toys upright! He has also discovered how to blow spit bubbles and does it all the time and just today he has been grabbing his feet!

Dislikes: Luke is such a content baby and really the only thing he fusses about is going to sleep. He can get fussy when he is tired and fights going to sleep because he doesn't want to miss anything!

Other Random Things:   He is doing SO well working on sitting up and we have been able to stay sitting up for a few seconds before we lean and gravitate toward the floor!

This child is going to be a football fan. He has no choice. Luke has attended a high school football game and two Aggie games (another one this weekend), and he is such a trooper. The noise does not bother him at all and he sleeps through Mommy's yelling ;). (I try to tone it down but sometimes I get a little worked up!). Luke also watches the Cowboys!

Cheering on the Cowboys

This past weekend was the first time Daddy and Luke had a bachelor weekend while Mommy was at a Bachelorette party! From what I have heard from updates through David and eye witnesses, they had a great weekend together and everyone was happy and in one piece when I got home!

Luke has also started going to BSF with Mommy and Gigi! He spends two hours in the nursery (Gigi checks on him) and he is just content being rocked or in the swing. Other babies crying doesn't bother him at all (Thank Goodness!) and he is quite the charmer with the ladies in there apparently!

This month has been a little challenging as I have started back at work part time and I am not around Luke three days of the week. I feel like I am missing out on so much sometimes, but I know he is in good hands!

Salted Caramel Chocolate Mug Brownie

So today is officially my first day back at work. Never have I been more thankful that I am able to work from home. There are still boxes all over this room and I had to run back over to our apartment (less than a mile away) to grab all of my work stuff. Oops! Luke is hanging out with his GiGi today and he was totally fine this morning but there were a few tears from momma. While I am on my little lunch break, I decided to post what I have been experimenting on for the past few days.

I will preface this with the warning that this is not for the faint of heart.

I have finally perfected the mug brownie.

1/2 Cup of Brownie Mix (Ghiradelli Double Chocolate, of course)
1/8 Cup of Water
1/8 Cup of Salted Caramel Mocha coffee creamer

Mix and put in microwave for one minute.

Be careful when you pull the mug out of the microwave...That sucker is HOT.

So hot, in fact, that you need something to cool it off...

I feel dirty...its not Blue Bell. HURRY UP AND COME NORTH, BLUE BELL.

Hello my name is Jordan, and I am a chocoholic.

Three Month Update

Luke Jeremy, how are you already THREE months old?! You have been so much fun this month and I have loved watching your big personality shine through!

Weight: 14 lbs, 8 oz. What a chunk!

Length: 24 inches? (just a guess)

Diaper Size: We have graduated into size 2 diapers!

Clothing Size: Luke is still wearing a few three month outfits but its mostly the 3-6 month or 6 month clothes. I cannot believe how fast this one is growing!

Nicknames: Big Guy, Lukey Pookey, Sunshine, Poop Monster

Health: We won't have our next doctor's appointment until 4 months, and so far, this Little Man has been the picture of health! Praise the Lord!

Sleep: Luke has been consistently sleeping from about 9:00 PM to about 11:00 PM (waking up for a bottle) then going back to sleep till about 4:30 or 5:00 AM. He will have another bottle and then go back down until about 7:30 or so. We don't really have strict schedule during the day, but the past few days I'm starting to try to get in the routine of laying him down in his crib around lunch time for a nap so I can get a few things done around the house.  So far so good!

Diet: Still drinking breast milk...While I have still been considering formula, I haven't made any transition yet.

Loves: Luke has really been very content when we lay him down on his activity mat that plays music and has the little animals hanging down. Just a few days ago, he has began to start reaching for them and occasionally will grab one for a second. He finds joy in funny noises like the "tooting" noises (such a little boy) and fake sneezing. Mommy's real sneezes sometimes scare him!

Dislikes: He still isn't too much of a fan of tummy time, but yesterday he spent a good 5 minutes smiling and "talking" before he got tired of it!

Other Random Things:  Luke rolled over for the first time on August 31 from his tummy to his back! I got video right before and shut it off and right when he rolled I turned it back on again.. missed the action but got his not so pleasant reaction afterwards!

Luke is getting so close to sitting in his "Bumbo" seat for a good length of time!

We also closed on and moved into our new house this month! We have been working on getting Luke's nursery all put together and it is almost done! I will do a post about it whenever it is finally complete.

This week will be another week of "Firsts" for Luke. His first high school football game to watch his Aunt Mel march and his first trip to Missouri to visit G-Daddy's family! The week after that will be Luke's first Texas A&M football game which just so happens to be the inaugural game in the newly completed Kyle Field!
